In this short guide I will give you the knowledge to find the right car without spending over the odds – whilst ensuring you have adequate cover should something go wrong. Firstly you need to decide which car is most suitable for your circumstances. The smaller the car you hire – the cheaper the price. Is a 4×4 absolutely necessary for a family of 3? Hiring such a big car could potentially cost you double the price.

To make things a little easier and cut the cost of your car hire you should consider using an internet based comparison service which can cut out a lot of the legwork. Hiring a car in resort can be more costly and leave you open to a minefield of unknown charges. Another factor to consider when choosing a vehicle from a car rentals company is insurance. You will usually receive a basic level of cover as standard and the company are required by law to provide a roadworthy vehicle.

You may be able to make arrangements to return the car with a less than full tank in return for a small payment so this is worth considering.
